Polished: Elevating Event Branding Through Digital Signage

UVU Polished Event 2024 - Event Planning HM4200

Introduction

Polished Signage | UVU Woodbury School of Business

Polished Event 2024, an annual business conference hosted by the UVU Woodbury School of Business, provided an opportunity to blend traditional event marketing with dynamic digital experiences. As part of the HM 4200 - Event Planning, I was a part of the Marketing team for the event. My challenge was to design engaging, visually cohesive, and easily readable digital signage that aligned with UVU’s brand and the event’s aesthetic. Using graphics and interactive elements, the goal was to enhance attendee engagement and provide clear event information.

Research & Planning

The design process began with researching UVU’s branding guidelines to ensure that the digital signage complemented existing university colors, typography, and visual identity. A Pinterest mood board was created to guide the look and feel of the signage, focusing on a modern, sophisticated aesthetic that aligned with the event’s theme.

Design Process

  • Typography & Color Scheme:

    • UVU branding colors (green, white, black, and gray) were incorporated for consistency.

    • Readable fonts were chosen, ensuring clarity for both digital and physical signage.

  • Motion Graphics & Interactivity:

    • The digital signage included animated text transitions and motion elements to grab attention.

    • Interactive QR codes were integrated, allowing attendees to access schedules and speaker bios via their smartphones.

  • Digital Signage:

    • Digital screens throughout the Keller Building displayed keynote speakers, breakout sessions, and schedules.

    • Welcome screens and directional signage were strategically placed to guide attendees seamlessly.

    • Physical signage complemented the digital elements while maintaining the same sleek aesthetic.

Implementation

The digital signage was deployed across multiple high-traffic locations within UVU’s campus, ensuring maximum visibility. A test run was conducted before the event to check readability, transitions, and placement effectiveness.

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.

The digital signage played a crucial role in enhancing the attendee experience at Polished Event 2024. By leveraging motion graphics, cohesive branding, and strategic placement, the signage provided a visually compelling and functional way to navigate the event.

Lessons Learned & Future Recommendations

  • Early planning and UVU branding alignment were key to ensuring consistency.

  • Testing motion graphics before deployment helped prevent readability issues.

  • QR code integration was a success, and future events could expand on interactive digital elements.

  • More dynamic content (such as live event updates or social media feeds) could further enhance engagement.

The project demonstrated the power of UI/UX design in event branding, reinforcing how digital signage can transform an event’s visual identity and audience experience.
